What is Love?
Here are some of my students this morning in my first class playing an English Grammar game!!
Being that this week is Valentine’s Week, (yet again – another huge Holiday here as well) I taught on LOVE.
I mean I know in America Valentine’s Day is a big thing with chocolate, roses, and stuffed animals (awesome job men!) but here they even cut their bushes into heart shapes with red and pink streamers all over the place. Pretty cool…but at the same time I know they are so creative doing things like that, then why can’t they have toilet paper in the bathrooms? Simple things that matter big time. Haha
Today’s lesson went very well.
I challenged all of us to not just love with words but in action. If we are good at something, but don’t have love – what good are we really doing in this world?
Love covers everything. Not girlfriend/boyfriend love, but a love to help others. A love that sees someone’s hurt. A love that is there for someone without words. A love that doesn’t expect anything in return. A love that never fails like this comes from Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 13:1-8
1. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5. does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6. does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7. bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8. Love never fails.
