Prayer Request for Safety

So I had my orientation on Saturday for Thai School! It was five hours long! Five!! I’ll be honest. I felt like a complete idiot. There were nine other students and they picked up all the words and sentences immediately. I’m like ok, where’s the level zero cause this isn’t even lesson one?

At the end of the day, my mouth and throat were killing me for I never even thought there could be sounds made like that…and they even mean words! Lord help me.

But the main reason why I’m telling you guys to pray for safety for me is because I go by myself. I got pretty shook up on my way back riding a motorbike from the MRT station. The problem with motorbikes is they normally drive too fast. This guy drove too slow.

As we crossed the intersection he made some kind of hand signal to this guy and he smiled. I then realized he turned around and started following us! I immediately felt uncomfortable. Eventually he passed us and went straight. Then the motorbike I’m on STOPPED in the middle of an alley/road. I about freaked out. I’m frantically looking all around me at the same time contemplating whether I should kick him off the bike and take off with it. Then another guy came around the corner, they did another hand signal and then we took off in opposite directions.

Right then I started praying out loud in English. That God would come down from Heaven right then and there and protect me. All I ask is to get me to my apartment safely. We turned the corner and there was my apartment. I got off the motorbike and sternly looked at him and said, “K̄hxbkhuṇ Kha” (thank you), and he had this smirk on his face. It was evil.

Thankful I’m safe and back home. But it shook me up quite a bit. You think you’re safe and you’re not. I’m usually pretty aware of my surroundings. I’m a very observant person. But sometimes in situations it’s hard to know what to do.

So I’m just asking people to please continue to pray for me to learn Thai. My classes don’t start till next month. But more importantly safety all the time. I know that the Devil doesn’t want me here so he’s always plotting.
