He is ALIVE in Me!
I wanted to share with you all what Easter means to me. I shared some of this during the service this morning at Bible Church Thailand.
Easter is one of my favorite days to celebrate and I’ll list a few reasons why!
Thailand doesn’t really celebrate Easter for it’s so close to their own New Year, but also Buddha hasn’t resurrected from the dead. So there can’t be a day to celebrate which makes me even more excited to celebrate Easter!!
I explained to them that in America it’s a huge Holiday filled with a lot of bunnies, baby chicks, and baskets filled with chocolate. And I love chocolate. It’s a very springy holiday for we just got through a lot of cold days and we are excited for spring. It’s a tradition to get a new outfit for it’s a time to become new again! (And of course I bought a dress at Dress Barn 90% off and had to bring it to continue the tradition. Fun fact – I love traditions.)
But my favorite reason why we celebrate Easter is because to me it’s celebrating that Jesus is alive and He is alive in me!
When I read the Easter story in the book of Mark chapter 16, verse 3 stood out to me and it says, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?”
When I read this it got me to thinking. They are asking who is going to take the stone away? Who is going to open the grave? Who is going to make the dead things become new again? Because Jesus was inside of the tomb. He just died on the cross.
So I ask the question to each of us, “Is the stone to your heart rolled away?”
You cannot resurrect with Christ unless that stone is first rolled away from your heart. Inside, our heart is dead unless we ask God to roll the stone or that sin out of our lives.
We can make a grave look pretty with flowers and some garden decor, but no matter how much we make it look nice on the outside, it’s still going to be dead on the inside.
Maybe some of you feel dead on the inside but you put on an act of feeling ok on the outside. I’m guilty of this. I’m very good about putting on a smile in front of people and in front of my friends acting like everything is fine. Until I go home and I let out all my fears and anxiety by crying them out until the next morning only to repeat it. I realized I was doing it all wrong. Life can’t be like this going around feeling dead.
I realized that I can’t make myself alive. I can’t do it by myself. My works can’t roll this stone away. My goodness can’t roll this stone away. My good deeds and thoughts can’t roll this stone away. Only Jesus can!
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in a Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” We each have a heart. We have to ask ourselves, “Does the stone to my heart need to be rolled away and become new?”
Jesus resurrected when David killed Goliath.
Jesus was alive when Esther became Queen.
Jesus resurrected when Moses walked across the Red Sea.
Jesus was alive when Naaman dipped 7 times in the Jordan River.
Jesus resurrected when Lazarus was raised from the dead.
Jesus was alive when Daniel was thrown in the Lion’s Den.
Jesus resurrected when the Walls of Jericho fell down.
Jesus was alive in that Upper Room and filled those Believers with the Holy Ghost speaking in other tongues.
Jesus resurrected when He cast 7 demons out of Mary Magdalene and He became alive in her!!
Praise God! Church, if He can resurrect in them, Jesus can resurrect in you and me!
Look what mercy has overcome. Death has lost. Christ has Won!
For Jesus said in John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” You can live for Him too. Not just this Easter – but forever!
So to me Easter means Jesus is ALIVE. I hope and pray you all have a blessed Easter!
