Be Yourself
It’s funny how the roles are switched in Thailand. Everyone loves the color of my skin. They want to be white for they say it looks soft and clean. I laugh as I tell them Americans want to always have a nice tan for we think white makes us look pale and sick, or we’ve been in winter for too long.
As I’m standing out in the 110° weather with short sleeves and see everyone else walking around with jackets, hats, and umbrellas to protect themselves by the sun, I can’t help but realize how people want what other people have.
I think it’s amazing that the Bible says we were created in the image of God. We are all human but yet not one of us is the same having different personalities, color, shapes, sizes etc. and this makes us out to be each fearfully and wonderfully made.
There’s always going to be someone smarter than you. There’s always going to be someone prettier than you. There’s always going to someone bigger than you.
There’s always going to be someone more handsome than you.
There’s always going to be someone skinnier than you. There’s always going to be someone better than you.
But you know what? God made you – YOU!
Stop comparing and thank God for creating you for who you are today.
Be Yourself. “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” Psalm 139:14
*These girls are from the school I visited in Mae Sot. They constantly send me stickers on FB for I have no clue how to speak Thai nor even Karen Sgaw. They are so precious!
