Beautiful are the Feet

As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

I remember coming back from the Karen State the first time and someone shared this scripture. It’s hard going to the jungle if you’re not used to the climate, the exercise, and the food. There’s a sacrifice you have to pay in going but it was so rewarding knowing people heard the Gospel.

I was thinking about that moment and went back and found the scripture. As I read it, it actually got me to thinking about culture because in Thailand the feet are the lowliest part of the body. You take your shoes off out of respect going into Churches, Temples, Houses, and Offices. Sometimes even Markets. I found out accidentally that you never point at something with your feet! I got yelled at by one of my friends and thought I kicked a huge shelf over or something terrible. I couldn’t figure out why she threw such a fit about it until I read you NEVER point with your feet.

Feet I guess aren’t the nicest looking contraptions and also can be pretty smelly to. This reminds me that God can use the foolish things to confound the wise. God can use the “lowliest” part of our body, as it is in this culture and maybe even the culture in Bible times, to bring something good! What do we do with feet? We walk. We GO. We have to have feet to be able to walk to bring something to someone.

So if you feel like God can’t use you cause you’re not good enough, stop that. God wants us and will use anybody and anything to bring glory to Him!

Romans 10:15-17 “And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’ But they have not all obeyed the Gospel. For Isaiah says, ‘Lord, Who has beloved what he has heard from us?’ So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ.”

God blessed us with the ability to GO. He blessed us with the Good News to share with others!! Use what God has given you. If we do not go, how will others know? If they do not hear, how will they have faith in God? Faith comes by hearing and hearing by His Word which is our responsibility to share. Be encouraged that when you’re doing what God asked you to do – He thinks it’s beautiful.
