Psalm 37 – His Way

I love Psalm 37. There’s so much to get out of this Psalm and I’m not posting the whole chapter or even half my thoughts. I’ll just share some simple highlights of what I need to be reminded of.

(Verse 3) “Trust in the Lord, and do good.”

Sounds simple enough but hard to do. As you’re trusting in God, go on living and DO good! This is a continuous act God wants in our lives.

(Verse 5) “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.”

So as we place our lives in His hands, again with trusting, He will do something for we did what He wanted us to do. Now that we did OUR part, He will too!

(Verse 7) “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.“

Ok. STOP. Everything about verse 7 screams *Morgan this is everything you don’t do! I do NOT like being still. In fact, I always like to be busy doing something and if I’m not, I feel guilty and end up finding something to do. Spiritually, this is a bad habit when the Lord is telling me here to “be still” and “wait patiently” when everything within me says to take action.

(Verse 7 continues) “Fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way…” Stop worrying. Don’t look for the next thing you have to do. Live in the moment that God has given you. Last thing – stop comparing your life to other people’s lives. Be thankful for YOUR life.

(Verse 23) “The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in His way.” I read that verse again. I noticed that we need to delight in HIS way. Not my way. Not your way. HIS WAY. Then I read it again. Our steps will be established WHEN we DO delight in Him. Be satisfied and find joy in His plan even if you feel like it wasn’t supposed to look that way – trust Him step by step.

(Verse 24) “Though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.” Yes, we fall. Yes, we stumble. But we will not fall apart for He will hold us up. Why? Because we go back to His way.

(Verse 34) “Wait for the Lord and keep His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off.”

So I just want to encourage us all with this Psalm to keep Christ’s way! Waiting upon Him and when we do this, we will inherit the land – not the world but Heaven. Welcome to eternity!!!!
