Exam Prep on Sunday

Sunday was an amazing day and yet a big surprise to me!! I knew I was going to be leading worship and also teaching the first year students so there’s nothing unusual about that. I do it every Sunday but with high school and college combined. But this Sunday I was prepping the students for their up coming exam. I know a lot of these students from already teaching at RBAC, so I knew I would have around 22 students on Sunday.

Pastor Ben is also a Professor at the University of RBAC. Since he writes all the material, he decided to use the Bible in his exams. I actually wrote some of the papers he used for the exam. For instance, I typed out Bible verses and Bible stories and read them all to the students and asked them questions and they had to write down what they thought was the correct answer. It’s for their listening skills of “who, what, where, when, and how” and for them to listen to proper English and how to respond correctly. Plus a good way for them to hear and write from the Bible.

After our English Service, then teaching them for an hour and a half with no AC (so we were all dripping sweat) I went into the Sanctuary to teach the 3rd and 4th year students about writing a summary. I had no idea I was doing that so I quickly read the stories and wrote my own summaries to teach them how to write and summarize a story. But after that I went back to the first year students and taught on different tenses and how to make complete sentences with questions and answers.

I left my house at 8:30 am and didn’t get home till 7:30 pm. I was literally at church that long. I was tired! I couldn’t believe though how good God is for me to have this opportunity. There were over 115 students there. We couldn’t even fit them all in the sanctuary so we had to split them up. Leading in worship and hearing them sing their hearts out to, “We believe in God the Father. We believe in Jesus Christ…” was just an amazing moment for me to witness. Although they don’t believe, I know that day they felt the presence of God. They witnessed His peace. They witnessed His joy. They witnessed His Love.

I’m also blessed that Pastor Ben has such a heart for his students to have a better life and to take his own time to help them study. He wants them to come to the Church so he gives them extra credit if they do come to a service. It’s just a unique situation he’s in to be able to do that. All glory to God! The students really look up to him for wisdom and guidance and he always points them to God’s Word.
