SPU – Last Day – Forgiveness

Last week was my last day teaching at SPU. I have to say I was sad but they already asked me to come back and teach next year so I’m thankful about that! Being that it’s my last day, I decided I wanted to teach them more than just English. I wanted to give them something to think about, that they can apply to their lives and help them.

So I taught on the topic “Forgiveness.” I made a PowerPoint presentation and worksheets for the students to follow along with, and also to write personal thoughts.

I asked them how many times they think we should forgive someone and everyone just about said two times. I taught on the parable found in Luke 7:36-50 where Jesus told of the King who freed His servant of his debt. He made him a new person. But then when the free man’s servant owed him money, he choked him, demanding it – showing no mercy, unlike he just received.

This story reminds me of the golden rule. I went on and taught them this as well which they never heard before. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Matthew 7:12 Jesus as our King, He wants us to treat others as He has treated us – with forgiveness and love.

My classes are one hour long and I teach four classes. This day they were each an hour and a half long. My last class opened up wanting to know how to become a child of God. As I taught and Jennie translated, I kept praying, as I do each week, that God would draw their hearts.

I was blessed that they thoroughly enjoyed this lesson. Even the director of SPU sat in on one of my classes. I was honestly nervous about what she would think but I explained to her that I wanted to leave them with more than just English. I’m a Christian and want to share Jesus with them. She even took notes herself and told the students that she forgives them for being late to her classes. (Haha)

Talking and teaching this much in one day wore me out, but I’m so thankful for this opportunity that has been given to me. I’m extremely blessed to know that I will follow up with some of the same students next year and also will be teaching them in the Wisdom Prep School!

God is so good and His timing is always perfect!
