Isaiah 58:11

God’s will is found in God’s Word. Stop looking for a sign, and start looking for a verse.

I’m thankful that the Lord always seems to give me a verse to hold onto during different seasons in my life. It’s not that I’m always like flipping through the pages of my Bible looking to find something that fits my situation at that time. I might do that if I’m writing a message…but it happens quite differently for life situations.

I was writing and I felt God put in my heart Isaiah 58:11. I love Isaiah 54 & 55 so that’s what I had in my head. But this verse, I turned to it and realized it wasn’t even highlighted or been marked yet. It came alive to me the moment I read it like the Lord Himself was speaking it TO me and IN me. He will show you so much if you let Him.

“And the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”

He will guide me continually.
He will satisfy my desires in hard times.
He will make me strong.
He will fill me.
He will not fail me.

This verse brings so much comfort to me because I have a fear of failing. I have a fear of other things too like elevators dropping. So terrifying. (Haha) Anyway, I am reminded time and time again that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love and a sound mind. If we do fail, He is right there to pick us up. Just like Peter.

I love Peter because I think we can all relate to him in some way or another. We might look at Peter as a failure for almost drowning, but if we look at it the other way around, Peter was the only one who got out of the boat to walk to Jesus. Peter listened for His voice. It was after Peter obeyed that he got sidetracked by what was going on around him in the world. Maybe he thought about what his friends would think or how he could mess this whole thing up. So he cried out for Jesus to save him. You know what Jesus did? The Bible says He immediately reached out and picked Peter up. I love that the Bible says “immediately” because that’s how good God is – He didn’t even hesitate.

So I want to encourage you today to remember that Jesus is our guide. Jesus satisfies. Jesus is strong. Jesus fills. Jesus does not fail. Step out of the boat in obedience to Him. Get in His Word. Know His voice. That my friend is when we are made strong in hard times.

What verse is God showing you right now in your season? Drop it in the comments for I would love to hear it!

  1. Psalm 27:8, Amplified Classic. You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word].
