“Do not be afraid” Luke 2:10
This really stood out to me this Christmas season that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of love and a sound mind.
When I think of the angels that night the first thing they said to the shepherds was, “Do not be afraid.” It was maybe because obviously they’ve never seen an angel before and from how the Bible describes them they might be a bit intimidating but yet majestic all at once. The glory of the Lord arrived!
Do not be afraid of what is in front of you.
Do not be afraid of what is behind you.
Do not be afraid that Jesus is the One Who can take care of it all.
Do not be afraid of what so-and-so will think.
Do not be afraid of your past.
Do not be afraid of your present.
Do not be afraid of your future.
Do not be afraid of your finances.
Do not be afraid of where you will live.
Do not be afraid of your weakness, for when we are weak He is strong.
This Christmas let’s remember why Jesus was sent to this earth. We don’t know what the Shepherds were feeling that night. They could have been afraid. They could have been nervous. They could have been confused. But I know one thing – they obeyed. And because they listened they got to experience seeing the Savior of the world for themselves.
What a powerful way to start Christmas! Let’s see Jesus!!
